What Makes Natural State Recovery Centers Different?
When someone enters addiction treatment, every part of their experience matters. Clinical programming and medical care are essential, but meaningful recovery is also influenced by how clients are treated, who leads their classes, the food they are served, opportunities for exercise and rest, and whether their daily routine supports the difficult work they are being asked to do.
At Natural State Recovery Centers, that attention to the entire treatment experience begins with our leadership.
Leadership Through the Eyes of a Social Worker
Natural State is led by Dori Haddock, LCSW, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with more than 20 years of experience in behavioral health, addiction treatment, clinical program development, and organizational leadership. Before joining Natural State, Dori served as Regional Director for Bradford Health Services in Arkansas and West Tennessee, bringing years of direct experience in the behavioral health field to her role as CEO.
When Dori came to Natural State, she did something that has helped define who we are today: she looked at the organization through the eyes of a social worker, not simply the eyes of a CEO.
She examined what we were teaching and who was teaching it, how our staff interacted with clients, the food clients were served, their opportunities for exercise, the amount of rest they received, the structure of their daily routine, and even how many breaks were built into their day. Instead of asking only whether something was operationally efficient, the larger question became, “Does this help the person we are here to serve?”
That perspective matters in an industry where treatment decisions can sometimes be driven by corporate structures and financial considerations. Every treatment center must operate responsibly, but at Natural State, the bottom line is not the only lens through which decisions are made. Having a clinical social worker leading the organization means the impact on the client remains part of those decisions.
Clinical Care That Goes Beyond the Minimum
That commitment is especially evident in our clinical programming. Our clinical classes are led by master’s-level clinicians, a standard that distinguishes Natural State from many treatment programs and makes us one of the few substance use disorder treatment facilities in Arkansas to maintain this requirement.
We believe the qualifications of the person leading the room matter. Substance use disorder is complex, and clients often enter treatment carrying experiences involving trauma, relationships, mental health, family dynamics, loss, employment, and other challenges. Having master’s-level clinicians leading programming means those conversations are guided by professionals with advanced clinical education who can connect what is being taught in class with the larger therapeutic process.
Our philosophy is equally important: we meet clients where they are, not where we are. Someone entering treatment may be exhausted, frightened, angry, ashamed, physically uncomfortable, or uncertain about recovery. Our responsibility is to treat that person with dignity and respect while providing the structure, clinical support, and tools needed to begin moving forward.
Recovery Is More Than Time Spent in a Classroom
Recovery does not happen only during therapy, which is why we have carefully considered what the rest of a client's day looks like.
Physical activity is intentionally built into our clients' daily routine, with activities that include yoga, jiu-jitsu, basketball, weight training, and walking or running on our track. We also pay attention to nutrition, appropriate rest, the pace of programming, and even the timing and number of breaks throughout the day.
These details may seem small individually, but together they create the environment in which recovery takes place. The goal is not to make treatment easy; recovery requires difficult and deeply personal work. Our goal is to create an environment that helps people physically and mentally engage in that work while beginning to establish healthier routines they can carry with them after treatment.
Family-Owned and Rooted in Arkansas
Natural State Recovery Centers is a family-owned Arkansas addiction treatment organization, rather than a national corporate chain. We provide a continuum of care that allows individuals to receive support from medical detox and residential treatment through PHP, IOP, and outpatient services, with care evolving as their needs change.
Being family-owned helps us remain connected to the clients, families, employees, and Arkansas communities affected by the decisions we make. Having an experienced Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the CEO's office adds another important layer to that responsibility by ensuring that decisions are considered not only from an operational standpoint, but also from the perspective of the people receiving care.
Over the past two years, we have seen the difference this approach can make. Natural State has continued to strengthen its programs, refine the client experience, and build a reputation as one of Arkansas's leading providers of substance use disorder treatment.
For us, however, being among the best is not simply about the services listed on a website or the amenities available on a campus. It is about looking closely at every part of treatment and continually asking whether we can do something better for the person who has trusted us with their care.
At Natural State, we believe recovery begins with seeing the person first, meeting them where they are, and creating an environment where they have the support, respect, and professional care they need to move forward.
That is the Natural State difference.
